Workhorse - (n.):

a horse, person or machine that performs hard work

(The Concise Oxford Dictionary, 9th ed.)

This page is dedicated to projects that now occupy my mind and assignments I previously worked on. Various publication examples can be viewed under the section “Past projects”.

Current projects

The remainder of 2013 will be focused on projects in the education sector with two major assignments that have to be completed before the end of 2013.

Publishing manager and copy-editor for the Council for Higher Education Transformation (CHET)

I’m managing the writing and production of a book about the South African Norway Tertiary Education Development (SANTED) Programme. The book is an in-depth reflection on development co-operation in a ten-year programme (2000 to 2010) that emerged as an example of best practice in partnerships for higher education development.

Past Projects

Before The Word Horse was born, I was privileged to work at Helene Perold and Associates for almost ten years as the Publishing and Research Manager.

Project manager for the Zenex Foundation

I’m tracking and managing the writing, testing and piloting, design and layout, printing and distribution of teacher toolkits as part of the Programme to Improve Learning Outcomes (PILO), and initiative of Mary Metcalf (Professor of Education at Wits University and former Higher Education and Training Department Director-General).

During this period I managed countless publishing assignments and built a reputation as a workhorse with an eye for detail. A description of the roles I played in some of the projects follow below.
